HOW LONG WILL THE HOME OFFICE TAKE TO DECIDE ON THE APPLICATION?
After you submit the Application and provide the Home Office with your supporting documents, it can take on average up to 6-8 weeks for a decision. This is the average time which means from time to time, decisions can be made quicker or later.
HOW MUCH DOES THE HOME OFFICE CHARGE?
For small and charitable organisations, the fee is £536 and for medium or large sized businesses it is £1,476.
IF I DON'T COMPLY WITH MY DUTIES, WHAT HAPPENS?
If the Home Office finds that you have not complied with your duties as a Sponsor, your Licence can be suspended or revoked which will result in your Skilled Worker employee losing their job.
MY COMPANY JUST STARTED TRADING, CAN I APPLY FOR A SPONSOR LICENCE?
Yes. As long as your Company is lawfully operating there is no “timeframe” for a company to be trading before it can apply for a Licence.
WHEN DO I HAVE TO UPDATE THE HOME OFFICE WITH ANY UPDATES?
As a Sponsor, you must update the Home Office with all material changes. This includes but not limited to:
The Skilled Worker leaving
Changes to employment terms
Long term absences
DOES THE COMPANY’S CHOSEN POINTS OF CONTACT HAVE TO BE BRITISH NATIONALS?
No, the key contacts must hold senior positions with the Company.
DOES THE SPONSOR LICENCE HAVE AN EXPIRY DATE?
Sponsor licences are valid for 4 years, unless surrendered or revoked. However, in most cases, you can apply to renew your licence shortly prior to its expiry.
